Prior to joining The Balance, Marisa was Compliance Manager at Wise Bread. There, she leveraged her international compliance team and implemented around-the-clock monitoring of the site. She streamlined compliance by creating new and efficient auditing procedures, as well as processes for new card and banking updates. In recognition of her efforts, Marisa was invited to speak to BrandVerity’s publishers about the importance of compliance. Marisa joined The Balance in 2020 to oversee all marketing compliance and content integrity initiatives. She brings a wealth of financial product experience to help protect the best interests of The Balance’s readers. Whether The Balance’s readers are taking out a student loan, signing up for the latest credit card, a Medicare supplement insurance plan, or buying a life insurance policy, Marisa keeps a close eye on content and holds writers and recommended providers with the utmost accountability. In addition to making sure all The Balance documents are in compliance, another key function of Marisa’s role is running all articles through a routine and rigorous fact-checking process, so we can feel confident we’re publishing the most accurate content.
